What was your educational path after graduating from ASCS?
I graduated from Notre Dame High School (Fairfield) in 2002. I attended Saint Joseph College in West Hartford CT and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education and a minor in Regular Education. I received a Master of Science in Reading and Language Arts from Southern Connecticut State University in 2013. I received a “Spotlight Award” by the Stamford Public Schools in May of 2013. I completed a sixth year program in Educational Leadership at the University of Bridgeport in 2014.
How do you feel ASCS prepared you academically?
ASCS taught me the foundational skills I needed in order to be successful in school. The teachers did not just teach the content; they taught us how to study, how to write for a purpose, and strategies we could use when the content became challenging. These skills helped me as I continued my educational career.
What are some of your favorite ASCS memories?
My favorite memories of ASCS are the teachers. Mrs. Gordon was my first grade teacher. Ms. Farrington was my second grade teacher. Their love of children and teaching inspired me to become an educator. They always demonstrated patience with us while instilling the importance of having grit when learning.
What advice can you give current students?
