Hello, my name is Xavier Guzman and I am the Middle School Science teacher at All Saints. I will be working with Mr. Cook, our STEAM teacher and coordinator.
I was born in the city of Guayaquil in Ecuador and have one sister and one brother and an extended family on my lovely wife's side. I've been a curious person since my early years. One anecdote I will share with you was the time I opened my father's radio to find out how it worked, and after tearing it apart, I was not able to put it back together. From that day on, I started reading, learning, and asking questions, all to try and find out how things worked.
I studied Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic University in Guayaquil, with majors in electronics and communication and a minors in Computer Science. I also earned a master's degree in Business Administration. I continue to learn with updated classes and courses, including my latest course on AI implementation from MIT.
My teaching path started as a tutor in my freshman year at college, teaching mathematics and physics. After earning my Engineering degree I became a part-time professor in Database Structure and Statistics then after earning my MBA, I taught applied Statistics for Tourism.
I started working with elementary and middle school students when I had the opportunity to help All Saints with the Robotics clubs, and became the coach for the First Lego League team.
I am excited for this new opportunity to help and teach science in middle school and encourage students to be creative and curious.
I am also a co-owner for LBM Systems, LLC located in Bethel, CT as a System and Solution Engineer, working there for 20 years.
When I am not teaching, I am reading, learning new things, playing with Frankie the pug, and enjoying time with my family.
