Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics- is both knowledge and performance skills-based. The motivation and enthusiasm generated by all Pre K4-8 students during the normal school day to research what scientists have discovered (science), to find solutions to real life problems (engineering design), while developing math skills and technological skills is incredible! 21st century skills, critical thinking, collaboration, communication (writing and oral presentations) and creativity, embedded in STEAM classes actually improves student academic performance in ALL subjects.
Once a week grade PreK-7 students at All Saints are actively involved in learning appropriate grade level science content/concepts which they collaboratively utilize in real-life engineering design activities and necessary math/reading wherever needed. Content, concepts, and skills are developed from the Next Generation of Science Standards. (NGSS).
Five days a week all 8th grade students are again actively involved in NGSS aligned lesson plans which again includes science concepts/ engineering design activities/ math and technology wherever applicable. Notetaking through the Cornell and SQ3R methods and individual Capstone projects are a part of the course curriculum to prepare students for high school.
