Congratulations to Kindergartner Michael Kovatch and his dad, Richard. This year they are growing an "Atlantic Giant" Pumpkin. Matthew has been helping his dad in their garden all summer long harvesting vegetables and regularly watering the plants. Every few days Matthew and his dad measure their pumpkin to chart its growth and see how big it is getting. The picture was taken September 29th and the pumpkin weighs over 250 pounds!

Thank You
Thank you to all those who supported our Lee Denim Jeans Day for breast cancer research. The total amount raised thus far is $1245. Donations are still coming in! "One day, One cause, One cure."

Middle School Harvest Dance
The Middle School Harvest Dance will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 7:00PM- 9:00PM in the school cafeteria. Tickets are now on sale for $10 in the school office. All middle school students need to have a permission slip (found here) to attend. The event is chaperoned by the administration and parents. There is a dress code so please check the permission slip for details. Any questions, please call the school office. ASCS students only!

Help is needed to clean up after the dance. We can use a few dads to move the tables and chairs to reset the cafeteria. Please consider coming inside to help us at 9:00PM.  Thank you.
Halloween at ASCS

Our Halloween Parade will take place outside on the track on Wednesday, October 31, at 10:45AM. The children will begin lining up in the school building and walk once around the track at 10:45. Parents are invited to the parade. Please go directly to the track outside. (In case of rain,  we will have the parade in the gym.) After the parade, the students ONLY will return to the classrooms.

It is an early dismissal day. There will be will be no extended day program, no extra help or peer tutoring, no after school sports programs, no clubs and no basketball practices on Halloween. Please be on time for pick up.

All students in grades PK- 8 may wear their costumes to school.  Middle School students may choose to either wear a costume or have a " Black and Orange" Dress Down Day. Be sure that your child's costume is comfortable for them to wear.  Costumes need to be appropriate for a Catholic School. Please: NO masks (make up is OK), NO props, NO weapons and NO "skimpy"costumes.

The teachers will ask for help if they need it. For the most part, they will give their own small celebrations. Please do not send in any treats to school unless you are specifically directed to do so by the teacher or room mothers. Please be respectful of this request. It will help the event flow smoother. Any questions concerning this event please contact the school office.
Interested in Girl Scouts at All Saints?

Please join us after school Friday, Oct. 12 for an informational troop meeting. Parents and girls in grades 1 to 8 are invited!

Where: Auditorium
When: After school until 3pm

Please note there will be no snacks served.

Parents: Find out how you and your daughter can participate in Girl Scouts at school
Girls: Find a troop to join at school

Girls who attend the after school program can participate and will be brought back once we are finished.

Kindergarten Parents: please look for separate communication for a troop.
Social Media Accounts
Parents, please be vigilant and monitor your son or daughter's social media accounts. The school's and Diocesan policies can be found in our School Handbook. Take some time this week to review them with your child.  Popular among the students at this time are: Instagram, Snap Chat, House Party and Musical.ly. I'm sure there are more. I caution you to be aware of the online sites visited by your children and be mindful of the posts and pictures your child posts online!
Schedule
Just so you know, I will be away on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday of next week. I am chairing a visiting team for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges ( NEASC). I will be evaluating a school in upstate Connecticut for continued accreditation. During my absence, Ms Licare will be responsible for the day to day operation of our school.  Please contact her directly if you need assistance. Mr Mezzacappa, one of our middle school teachers, is also serving on my team.  A substitute teacher has been hired to teach his classes while he is away.  Volunteer service on visiting teams is a requirement for continued accreditation of all schools by NEASC.

Looks as if Indian Summer is holding on. Cool weather can't be too far away.
Have a nice week!

God bless,
Mrs.Dunn
